Privacy policy

How Smiling Buddha collects, uses and protects your personal information.

Last updated: 5 November 2026.

Who we are

Smiling Buddha (“we”, “us”) is a construction company based in Reading, Berkshire. [Owner to add registered company name, number and registered office.] We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

What we collect

  • Contact details such as your name, email address, phone number and property address when you request a quote or contact us.
  • Project information you give us so we can price and plan the work, including drawings and photographs of your property.
  • Website data such as pages visited, collected through cookies if you consent.

Why we use it

We use your information to respond to enquiries, prepare quotes, carry out and administer building work, keep records required by law (for example building control, warranties and accounts), and, if you have agreed, to keep in touch about our services. Our lawful bases are the performance of a contract with you, our legal obligations, our legitimate interests in running the business, and your consent where we rely on it.

Who we share it with

We share information only where necessary: with sub-contractors and suppliers working on your project, with architects, structural engineers and building control, with our insurers and accountants, with providers that host our website and email, and with regulators or authorities where the law requires. We never sell your data.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted after twelve months. Project records are kept for six years after completion for warranty, insurance and tax purposes, or longer where a structural warranty requires it.

Your rights

You have the right to access the information we hold about you, to correct it, to ask us to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

This website uses only the cookies needed for it to work and, if you accept them, anonymous analytics cookies to help us understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
